Prophet Mountain Log Homes got it’s start back in 1982 when the owner Lawrence F. Gessner spotted a log home in upstate NY. The owner of the home offered him a tour and it was love at first site. When Mr. Gessner contacted a local real estate agent and wanted to know if there were any more in the area, he was told to stay clear of those log homes. There were many problems associated with them and the banks wouldn’t finance them.

This did not sit well with Mr. Gessner, and he began to research the log home industry in depth. That research turned into a passion that still burns some 24 years later. The once thought of doomed log Home Industry has flourished into an enterprise that spans the entire world with markets in Japan and well, basically all four corners of the earth.

In 1982 there was only one magazine that focused on telling the true story about building log homes. Now there are at least three with others that specialize in areas of design and décor. Today’s log homes are a far cry from the vision of a small cabin that our fore fathers lived in. There are many homes being built today that are anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 square feet in total area. Technology has played a major role in the energy efficiency and maintainability of these homes.
